This list is in no particular order though the Shabaka album particularly suited the year for me. Special musical mention to the Master Musicians of Joujouka who in 2024 more than satisfied the 35+ years wait for me to experience them live, which I finally did in June - they were utterly overwhelming in all the best ways. Footnote: only just got my hands on the Throbbing Gristle “TG Berlin Box Set” (Mute) which on first listen sounds immense and may well have made this list in time. One of my favourite discoveries of the year. The man who needs no introduction, Matt, the creator and pillar of Tangled Parrot - since the year 2000!
