Huw has been with us a good while now, serving up delicious coffee and snacks in our Swansea location - regulars will be familiar with his naturally warm and welcoming disposition. His love and knowledge of music not only introduces customers to new music but always does with us too!

Here's what made Huw's top ten releases of 2023!

10. THE IRONSIDES - CHANGING LIGHT
Genre: Instrumental Soul
On the fantastic Colemine label, an instrumental journey into funk and soul. The Ironsides are definitely one band to watch out for in the coming years.
Favourite track: The Web.
9. SAY SHE SHE - SILVER
Genre: Funk / Disco
Seen them play live at Greenman this year and they were fantastic. The record contains some classic soul, disco and funk tracks that will keep you dancing throughout the night or day.
Favourite track: Astral Plane.
8. BILLY WOODS & KENNY SEGAL - MAPS
Genre: Hip Hop
Definitely the best hip hop record of 2023. The beats and bars are breathtaking, leaving you wanting for more.
7. WARRINGTON-RUNCORN NEW TOWN DEVELOPMENT PLAN - THE NATION'S MOST CENTRAL LOCATION

Genre: Electronica / Ambient
Fourth record from Gordon Chapman-Fox and its dark, ambient waves flows throughout both sides of the record, resulting in a journey of relaxation and electronic bliss.
Favourite track: Rocksavage.
6. SPEAKER CORNER QUARTET - FURTHER OUT THAN THE EDGE
Genre: Jazz / Electronica / Funk
An outstanding record that features some talented artists. From Jazz, Hip Hop and Soul, there is something for everyone from the South London collective.
5. AFRICAN HEAD CHARGE - A TRIP TO BOLGATANGA
Genre: Reggae & Dub / Electronica / Experimental

A lovely record containing some classic dub, reggae and dance hall vibes. It’s a psychedelic journey that takes you straight into the heart of Ghana.
Favourite track: Passing Clouds.
4. YOUNG FATHERS - HEAVY HEAVY

Genre: Alternative Pop / Indie

Another band I was lucky enough to see live at Greenman and I have to say, they were fantastic. The record is uplifting, inspiring and will get you up dancing, whatever mood you are in.
Favourite track: Geronimo.
3. VINCE CLARKE - SONGS OF SILENCE

Genre: Electronica / Ambient
This was a late addition to my top ten and what a lovely surprise. It’s an electronic ambient masterpiece from start to finish. So sit back, put your feet up and relax as Mr Clarke takes you on a journey of discovery.
Favourite track: The Lamentations of Jeremiah.
2. OVERMONO - GOOD LIES
Genre: Breakbeat / Electronica
The electronic duo from Cardiff, Overmono have produced a fantastic record that will keep you dancing until the early hours, night or day. Just quality electronic music, enough said.
Favourite track: Is U.
1. YUSSEF DAYES - BLACK CLASSICAL MUSIC

Genre: Jazz
This debut record from Days has everything from jazz, funk, soul and hip hop vibes throughout its 19 tracks. It’s a record that keeps on giving, every time you listen to it. The quality of musicians and collaborating artists on this record is just incredible. It’s my number one album of 2023, enjoy before I forget, Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Favourite track: Rust [feat. Tom Misch].
