Tracey Thorn - A Distant Shore LP
The first studio album by Tracey Thorn released in 1982. The album includes eight understated originals as well as a cover version of The Velvet Underground's Femme Fatale and Cole Porter's Night And Day.
Recorded for just £138, the album reached number 1 in the UK Indie Chart in 1983 and went on to sell over 100,000 copies throughout Europe.
An unassuming masterpiece, simply played on delicate acoustic and electric guitars with Tracey's voice starkly sitting on top of it all, it marks the transition from the ramshackle Marine Girls to the more sophisticated adult pop of Everything But The Girl.
